Q:How can I share my client database with another user such as my assistant?
A:You first have to share your local database, and then tell FP Solutions on the other user's computer where the database is located.

Database Workstation:

   • Open FP Solutions and select "Options" from the "Tools" menu
   • Click on the "Configuration" tab
   • Select "Share My Local Database" and click on "OK"

   • Close FP Solutions

Other User Workstation:

• Go to the user's workstation
• Open FP Solutions and select "Options" from the "Tools" menu
• Click on the "Configuration" tab
• Select "Use client database located elsewhere"
• Click on the "Browse" button at the end of the "Database Location" path, and browse to the folder where the client data resides (usually the C:\CCH FinancialWorks\FPS2004\Data folder), click on the folder that contains the client database

   • Click on "OK"

Q:How do I link or connect a workstation to a FP Solutions Server client database?
A:The connection to the FP Solutions Server client database is automatically created when the workstation is installed using the Workstation Setup found in the FP Solutions Server folder. These manual steps can be used to connect a FP Solutions workstation to the FP Solutions Server client database. We are going to use "F:\FPS2004\Data" as the location of the client data on the server to illustrate the steps:

• Go to the workstation and open FP Solutions
• Select "Options" from the "Tools" menu
• Click on the "Configuration" tab
• Select "Use FP Solutions server"
• Click on the "Browse" button at the end of the "Share Location" path, and navigate to the folder above the FP Solutions Server client database folder (F:\FPS2004). Note - do not select the folder containing the database files

   • Click on "OK"

Q:Compile error in module "MOD MAIN"
A:This error usually occurs if one is running an older version of MS-Excel. FP Solutions requires Microsoft Excel 2000 or higher. Install MS-Excel 2000 or higher to run FP Solutions

Q:How do I email a plan report to a client?
A:After creating the financial plan:
   • Click on "Print Report" button

   • Select the documents you wish to add to the report by using the "Module Selector" to navigate to the modules in the plan. Select the documents, and use the "Document Transfer Arrows" to move the document to the "Documents to be Printed" pane from the "Available Documents" pane.

   • Click on the "Print to Excel" button, select a location to save the report, enter a file name,      and click on the "Save" button.

   • The report will be saved in the location you selected with the name you entered
   • Email the file to your client

Q:How do I export a client file to a floppy disk?
A:Open your FP Solutions client file:

• Select "Export" from the File menu
• Select "Export Personal Information" if you wish to include the client's personal   information. Leave unchecked if you do not wish to include personal information

   • Select "Yes" or "No" to the Privacy notice
   • Click on the Filename "Browse" button and browse to your floppy drive
   • Enter a filename
   • Click on the "Save" button
   • Click on "OK"

Q:FP Solutions will not validate my key code?
A:Ensure that your name and key code has been entered correctly. Do not enter a company name unless your subscription is a Small Office, Back Office, or Site License subscription.
Use the Tools | User Information screen in FP Solutions to enter any designations and company information.

Q:FP Solutions Reports worksheets are printing on 2 pages.
A:Change the scaling to 95% when printing the report.

• Select "Page Setup" from the "File" menu
• Adjust Scaling to 95%
• Click on "OK"

Q:I am currently running FP Solutions Advanced and have upgraded to FP Solutions Business. How do I update my FP Solutions license to add the Business module?
A:Open FP Solutions:

• Select "Update License" from the "Tools" menu
• Enter the name provided in the letter (usually your first and last name), enter the new   key code
• Click on "Validate". Note - You can verify the change by clicking on "About FP   Solutions" from the Help menu; it should now say "Business"

A:Open the Fact Finder (Start | Programs | FP Solutions 2004)

   • Click on the fact Finder you wish to open (Personal or Business).
   • The Fact Finder will open in MS-Excel
   • Select "Print" from the "File" menu
   • In the "Print What" section, select "Entire Workbook"

   • Click on "OK"

Q:How do I print selected pages of the FP Solutions Fact Finder?
A:Open the Fact Finder (Start | Programs | FP Solutions 2004)

• Click on the fact Finder you wish to open (Personal or Business).
• The Fact Finder will open in MS-Excel

• In the "Print What" section, select "Selection"

   • Click on "OK"

Q:How can I copy my local client database to a server and have other users access the client database along with myself?
A:You first have to share your local database before copying the database to the server. We are going to use the default installation path of C:\CCH FinancialWorks\FPS2004 to illustrate the steps.

   • Open FP Solutions and select "Options" from the "Tools" menu
   • Click on the "Configuration" tab
   • Select "Share My Local Database" and click on "OK"

   • Close FP Solutions
   • Copy the "Data" folder in C:\CCH FinancialWorks\FPS2004 to a folder on your server

To point FP Solutions to the new client data location on the server, complete the following steps on all FP Solutions workstations that will be accessing client data from this new location. We are going to use "F:\FPS2004\Data" as the location of the client data on the server to illustrate the steps:

   • Open FP Solutions and select "Options" from the "Tools" menu
   • Click on the "Configuration" tab
   • De-select "Share my local database" (if it is selected)
   • Select "Use client database located elsewhere"
   • Click on the "Browse" button at the end of the "Database Location" path, and browse to the      "Data" folder on the server that contains the client data files (F:\FPS2004\Data)

   • Click on "OK"

Q:Where can I find the latest FP Solutions program online?
A:FP Solutions Demos and Updates can be found online by selecting the following web link: http://www.cch.ca/support/downloads.aspx

Q:Runtime error 13, type mismatch.
A:This error usually occurs when cell data contains an incorrect value such as an alpha in a numeric cell and vice versa. The most common case appears to be spaces in the Fact Finder which get imported into the financial plan as incorrect data resulting in a runtime 13 error. To correct, go through the Fact Finder and remove any spaces created using the keyboard's spacebar and re-open the Fact Finder in FP Solutions.
