Change to Public Holiday Exclusion for Construction Workers
Amendments to the Exemptions, Special Rules and Establishment of Minimum Wage Regulations raise the threshold for the exclusion of construction employees from the statutory holiday provisions of the Employment Standards Act from workers who receive 7.3 per cent or more of their hourly rate or wages for vacation pay or holiday pay to workers who receive 7.7 per cent or more. Ontario Regulation 586/07, which effected the change, came into force on December 21, 2007.
